Targeted Cover Letter

Ever wondered what exactly will make your cover letter and resume stand out when hundreds of resumes are being read by the hiring managers. It is interesting that how the recruiters are able to select a few from that hundred. It may seem impossible at first to get selected out of all those applicants, but there are ways to make you more memorable to them. Writing a targeted cover letter is definitely one of them.

What To Include

It is obviously easier to write a general cover letter than to write a targeted cover letter for a specific job. However if you do not invest your time here, there is no use of writing a strong resume. Yours won’t be read as they do not have that much time to read what everyone wrote.

What you need to do is match your qualifications to the job. This is the first and foremost thing you got to do. Review the job posting and identify the skills and qualifications they are asking for. Include them in your cover letter and portray how they are relevant for the job. Although this takes a lot of time and effort, it is an essential step to get noticed.

Then view sample cover letters that made the cut to get an insight on what to write. Make sure you include all the qualities they are looking for. Discard all the unnecessary information and details. This way the employers can easily spot the qualifications they are searching for and decide whether you are needed or not.
